The Washington Sash and Door Co located in the old Novelty Works building offers summer screens for sale. Customers are invited to choose from various sizes and styles to fit windows and doors.
You can get more meat at Stuart's for $1.00 than anywhere for $1.25. Largest line of smoked meats in the city. Te to 10c bacon, nice large mackerel at 10c, Columbia River salmon 12c, White Fish 45c per kit. Bought 40 head yearling beeves. Veal pork fresh fish poultry vegetables on hand plus pickled meats and canned goods.
The season is here for soda water and ice cream with all flavors. The shop proclaims its ice cream is the best in the city and highlights Gunther's Candies, bread, pies, and cakes fresh daily.
The widower in Centralia Illinois received a box note and reports an answer. The Journal notes a couple Mary Keston Loyel and Annette Brooks, Kalona residents, are to wed tomorrow and extends congratulations from the paper.
J S Barnett has purchased the Alcove barber shop in the Hotel Allen block of Safe Ostrander and took possession yesterday. Ostrander and family will leave the city to locate in Muscatine or Kansas City. Barnett will begin immediate shop improvements. A new tennis club formed among East Washington youths with court at the Henderson sisters Jefferson Street home. Several match games played and more planned. Rev J B McBride of Princeton Iowa visited Brockways and preached at Bethel church. Horne couple hosted friends in Davenport. Ike Smith of Kidon worked as Firefly engineer.

Members dispute the contract handling and funding already set aside, with laboring citizens in mind and a next meeting promised to resolve the issue. Washington sought funds in August for a regimental encampment after Gen. Wright of Des Moines approved the site above the Rock Island tracks. City aims to raise 00 to cover light and water needs. Ottumwa raised 800 last year. Mayor Geo. Ross Major J. 2D Glasgow Capt. D. W. Harvey and C J Wilson lead the solicitation with early success expected.
