The 22 year old veteran spoke about antiwar protests and his desire to serve the country.

North Carolina born enslaved man Sylvester Magee, 128, lives in Columbia Mississippi. He says memory fades but remains alert about war, women, and faith. He recalls being born May 29, 1841 and sold in 1858, adopting the Magee surname from his plantation owner. Local historians doubtless verify his long life.
Ex employee James Flippin 26 is shot and killed after opening fire with a shotgun at the Wisconsin Motors military engine plant. Nine workers and a policeman wounded. Flippin had been fired for insubordination and claimed racial grievances. Police say two officers returned fire. several other workers injured while fleeing. In Dayton, Ohio two female bandits strip a cab driver after stealing cash and valuables.
