Allen Rine in critical condition after fall from trestle
Allen Rine 11, son of Carl and Mrs. Rine of Crawfordsville, remained critical at University Hospitals Iowa City after a 30 foot fall from a railroad trestle Friday afternoon. He and two friends were exploring the area after school when the accident occurred. First aid was given by volunteer firefighters and nurse Cathy Williams until ambulance transport. Reports indicate a collapsed lung, broken arm and ribs, and a possible head injury requiring surgery.

Washington man hurt in pickup accident
Russell Chorpening a 64 year old Washington man is in fair condition at Washington County Hospital after a one vehicle crash on a rural dirt road south of West Chester at 6 pm. A bee entering the pickup caused him to lose control and strike a tree causing about 2000 dollars in damage. Sheriff's officers investigated the incident.
