Mary Cox petition for order and Keister versus Williams receivers discharged. Court adjourned to September.

Masquerade Party at Bert Andersons and Local Gas Find

At Bert Andersons pleasant Heights home about twenty friends attended a masquerade last evening. After unmasking, refreshments were served. The Columbus Junction Gazette reports Noah Letts’ well site revealed natural gas at ninety five feet, with a blue flame and kerosene odor. A second well matched the first, expanding gas beds seven miles long, used for light and fuel for about seven years. The Gazette invites inquiries to promote gas development.

Opening Ball Park game ends in late collapse

Yesterday opened the season at the Ball Park with about a hundred paying fans and a similar entourage outside the fence. Our team led 9 to 1 in the sixth before Fairfield surged back to win as Brighton players Campbell Elliot and White contributed strong hits and pitching from R Campbell. The writer criticizes the home team for quitting late and urges full effort throughout.

The Washington Rod and Gun Club held a meeting yesterday afternoon. Members posted varied results as a location change affected angles. Wallace led with 29 of 50 birds, followed by Dixon 38, Campbell 30, McCartney 28, Schott 43, and Bailey 22.
