Windfall for Iowa Safety Department Surplus Estimated
Iowa Safety Department head Carl Pesch estimates a windfall surplus of 30 000 to 400 000 will go back to the general fund at end of the 1961 63 biennium with 500 000 projected for the Old Age Assistance fund after revised federal participation. The surplus supports a tighter revenue outlook for 1963 65 as the Legislature did not pass a major tax. Pesch plans to buy group personal liability insurance and streamline filing equipment, saying the surplus stems from good management and careful fund control. The current annual appropriation is 5 009 500 with 5 010 810 allocated for 1963 65.
