Senate Rejects Move to Trim Foreign Aid
The Senate voted 41 to 3 against eliminating a $500 million cut from the foreign aid bill. Senator Welker proposed the reduction, while opponents argued the administration stalled. Seven Airmen Die In B 36 Crash At Carswell AFB
At Carswell Air Force Base Texas a B 36 crashed on landing bursting into flames. Seven airmen were believed burned to death and ten were injured though not yet classified. Witnesses described a wheel collapse and a mass of flames reaching high into the air.
