Mediapolis column notes Della and Dessa Smith, twins and Mediapolis High School graduates of 1899, who began teaching there in 1914 and 1916 respectively after attending Coe College, resigning after nearly a quarter century of service. Their twin tenure at the same school is described as a unique record.
Postmaster L. H. Hill and Mrs Hill, with Mrs. John A. Ryan, were injured when their car left the road and went into a ditch near Villisca. They were en route to Hamburg for a debate on a new post office.
The Waterloo Black Hawk county board of supervisors cannot fix a monthly relief grocery limit at a single store. The Iowa Emergency Relief Administration Bailey Barnes announced a ruling. The board sought a ruling to cap relief orders at one store to 800 dollars per month due to protests over store concentration.
An alert passerby on a lonely road stopped an alleged farm laborer Arnold Meder 38 from killing his two daughters by asphyxiation Sheriff Dor McComas said. The children Marian 10 and Grace 8 were found nearly unconscious inside the car while Meder lay semi conscious nearby.

Dubuque resident Archie Carter a former editor of the Dubuque labor leader, aged 34, was found guilty by a jury of a statutory charge. Defense attorney J F Wirds of Iowa Falls asked for a new trial after Carter was arrested with an 18 year old in a Y M C A room a month ago.
Mitchell county Sheriff Charles Kathan said three men were jailed for alleged intimidation of a farm family. The men, part of a magazine crew camped nearby, posed as federal officers and pressured Leo Fean to drop charges against two men who allegedly assaulted his daughter.
Des Moines municipal court officials consider delaying a U trial for Fred Neile Hansen of Grimes on a speeding charge. Arrested April 1, he wished to graduate with his class and was released to appear after graduation. Judge Ralph Powers continued the stay until June 13, noting the boy cannot leave the farm until corn planting.
Federal Judge George Scott sentenced Le on Webster and Herbert Cartwright, both 20s, of Sioux City to three years in federal prison for forging postal money orders. They pleaded guilty after returning from Mankato Minnesota, allegedly breaking into a rental box at the Sioux City post office and stealing mail and 70 dollars in money orders.

In a devastating raid, a fleet of Japanese war planes killed as many as 500 people and wounded at least 900 in southern Canton and surrounding areas. Rescue workers were among the casualties as raiders struck crowded Wongsha and the Canton railway station, aiming at the railway hub. Forty naval planes participated in the attack.
Mrs. A. D. Stiles of Trenton Missouri, once a Wash ington resident, died in an Ottumwa hospital from injuries in a crash near Ottumwa. Her husband, a retired Rock Island trainman, was injured. The Stiles daughters were en route to visit when the accident occurred. Funeral for Mrs. Stiles will be in Muscatine tomorrow. Mr. Stiles was moved from Ottumwa to Muscatine hospital with multiple injuries.
Mrs. A Stites 63 of Trenton Missouri dies at Ottumwa hospital from a head injury after a wreck on Highway 54 near the city. Her husband A D Stiles a retired railroad man suffered back injuries as their car overturned in a ditch while en route to visit their two daughters Mrs. Cloyd Law and Mrs. Robert Kissner in Muscatine Iowa.
Four men imprisoned may be pardoned after two men Ernest H. McCarthy and Harry H. Koree admitted to a dozen robberies across Missouri Kansas and Nebraska. The confessions could lead to release or reduced sentences for other inmates.
Hancock County farmer Charles Hreka says six of his sons died after his sows were kept indoors and then released to fresh air. He claims the sun and warmth contributed to the losses, noting the deaths occurred as the animals went outdoors in spring.
