Zeppelin Delayed by Rain Departs for Havana Today
In Pernam buco Brazil on May 2 the Graf Zeppelin departed for Havana and Lakehurst at 11 13 a m after a several hour rain delay. Passengers had waited since 6 a m at the Giquia airdome and boarded early for the 4500 mile flight. The rain halted plans but cleared and Dr Hugo Eckener ordered takeoff despite weather reports from Para and other states. The Zeppelins recent moves include a flight to Rio de Janeiro and a weekend return, with Cuba expected Saturday and the United States Sunday.

Progress in Corn Planting Reported Across Iowa
Des Moines May 28 Progress in corn planting in Iowa improved last week reaching about 94 percent complete with 11 percent ahead of last year and the 1929 figure. Replanting is likely due to slow germination and bird and insect damage after emergence. Weeds and crop damage from floods noted in some counties. Soybean acreage about three-fourths planted. early alfalfa cutting begun. Winter wheat height two feet in Wapello county. oats and other grains improved. Poultry raisers cautious as prices have been low and many hatcheries closed earlier than normal.

Col Roscoe Turner landed at Grand Central Airport after an 18 hour 44 minute east to west flight from New York with a single stop at Wichita. Young Burglars Sentenced In Wellman Case
Ivan Whetstine age 19 and Lawrence Kelley age 18, both of Wellman, were sentenced by Judge Frank Bechly to up to ten years in the state reformatory at Ana. They pleaded guilty to breaking and entering two Wellman businesses last Sunday night, and confessed after arrest following their return to town. Police tied their fingerprints to the crime. they fled Wellman the night of the robbery and later divided loot before driving to Moline, Illinois. The pair previously faced juvenile matters in court.
