New Iowa Daylight Saving Time Set For May 29
Iowa’s new daylight saving law requires clocks to advance one hour at 2 a.m. on Memorial Day weekend. Attorney General Lawrence Scalise confirmed the change, noting an exception if Memorial Day falls on a Sunday, then the shift occurs the preceding day. Residents will adjust Friday night and be in sync with the state on Saturday morning May 29.

Handicapped Kids Attend Annual Fish Day at Lake Darling
The Chicagua chapter of the Izaak Walton League hosted 22 University Hospital School students and 11 from Washington Hospital Trainable School for Fish Day. About 220 bullheads were caught with meals provided. awards went to top fishers and others. Miss Virginia Petty said the event is the year's biggest outing for the handicapped children.

New pastor named for Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd

Iowa Senate approves higher unemployment benefits plan
The Iowa Senate approved a bill by 34 to 24 to raise maximum weekly unemployment pay from 44 to 49 dollars with an escalator tied to average wages.
