Maj. Gen. Edward A. Kreger 86, native of Keota, died at Brooke Army Hospital San Antonio Texas from a heart attack. He taught law at West Point and served as judge advocate before retiring in 1931. Jury Faults Driver in Davenport Car Train Crash
A coroner's jury ruled Wednesday that Richard G. Misner of Rock Island was negligent in the May 10 Davenport crash that killed Howard T. Meeks and Merle C. Luze. Misner, charged with drunken driving, drove a car into a Rock Island switch engine. No other charges were recommended.

Fourteen Killed in Bomber Crash Near Sterling City
A ten engine B36 bomber on a training mission from Roswell crashed in a desolate ranch area about 35 miles south of Sterling City killing all fourteen aboard. Maj. A K Barnes of Walker AFB said the aircraft was overdue and identified by officials. the plane was valued at about 3.5 million dollars and crashed around 2 35 a m EDT. A second aircraft was dispatched to confirm the crash and identify the bomber attached to the 6th Bomb Wing of the 15th Air Force.
