Last evening at the bride’s home in this city the wedding of Miss Libbie Champion and Mr Ernest Coxe took place with only relatives and close friends present. Father of the groom Dr Coxe officiated. Una Nicholson served as flower girl. After a short de voyage the couple will be at home after June 1.
Yesterday Chas Wilbur of Verdi was brought before insane commissioners, found insane, and ordered taken to Mt Pleasant. Deputy Black started with him. He had been at the asylum before, later lived with a Nebraska brother, and returned home where family feared for their safety. He grabbed an ax, causing alarm, and his mother stopped him as Levi Shidler intervened. Sheriff Teeter took action to remove him. Hope for cure is expressed.
The excursion includes a Burlington baseball league game with options to stay at Burlington or travel to Ft Madison by steamer. All return the same evening. Train times to be announced. Very low price for the round trip.
The June issue features Rev. Robert Collyer on influence and Arthur Warren detailing a Domestic Court in Denmark. It covers the Bonaparte connection with Miss Patterson, Parkhurst on women suffrage, Bok on Trilby and the New Woman, a new serial The Luck of the Pendennings, and decorative and fashion pieces with designs for embroidery crochet and tatting. It also promotes Our Poisonous Plants and a cover illustration by Alice Barber Stephens. The Curtis Publishing Company sells the magazine for one dollar.
The group could not secure a steamboat for June 4 and moved their Burlington trip to June 5. Also noted is a stock visit by Wm. McCall near Crawfordsville who suffered a bad mule kick above the hip. Terry's Uncle Tom's Cabin Co. is in town near the Rock Island depot with horses and bloodhounds, planning a street parade and a fine band performance.
The Enterprise notes a Thursday contest where Alberson weakened in the seventh, allowing Washington 8 runs as Brighton and Washington players produced scattered hits and errors. Washington led 5–7 before the rally, with Gaston and Wallace keying scoring for Washington and White, Evans, and Adams shining in defense.
Last night at The Graham a large audience enjoyed Mr. Frank Brinton's views and songs by Mr. Gantz and the ladies. He offered free performances to support the Park fund with another show Monday night. The item also promotes local ads and services including a deafness cure claim, clothing, and bakery notices.
