Struck by plane death of Iowa farm woman Edith Carlson
A 63 year old Iowa farm woman Edith Carlson was killed when the wing tip of a crop dusting plane struck her neck as it landed on a county road in front of her Des Moines County home near Yarmouth. Two pilots were dusting crops on the Carlson farm.

Montgomery Ward and Company lease the vacated store to Goodwill Industries of Southeast Iowa for a shelter workshop. The lease runs to February 15, 1967, with operations starting July and interviews for handicapped adults beginning now. Initial staff expected 15 to 20, rising as funds allow, while a larger permanent facility is planned with a fund drive raised to 100000. Blood fluid from SUI aids wounded in Viet Nam
Iowa City researchers at the University of Iowa College of Pharmacy have produced a special blood processing fluid to reconstitute frozen blood. About 240 units monthly ship from the Philippines to Subic Bay and Da Nang for Navy processing. The technique allows blood to be kept up to two years, far longer than whole blood. It’s aimed at easing transfusion in humid Viet Nam where donators may take hours to recover.
