Knoxville jury clears driver in fatal crash case
A district court jury in Knoxville refused damages to the estate of Melvin De Ruther. The suit by administrator Dan Martin sought 29 000 arising from a December 26 crash that killed De Ruther and two others. A fifty foot metal flagpole was installed yesterday on the southeast corner of the court house lawn near the Loan and Trust company building. County employees set the pole in four feet of concrete. Felton's Condition Indefinite After Iowa City Hospital Visit
Reports from D Wayne Felton at the University hospital in Iowa City say he is holding his own but no definite recovery is known. X rays were taken and his mother Mrs Laura Felton is in Iowa City to learn the results. Ay operation was discussed but not decided. Edward Bidwell, injured in the same Oakland Mills accident, is steadily improving at the county hospital with skull fracture and scalp wound, though the fracture is not among the most dangerous.
