Five midshipmen linked to Navy pot smoking at academy
Navy officials at the U S Naval Academy in Annapolis disclosed an investigation into five midshipmen accused of smoking marijuana in Bancroft dormitory. Two were separated for unrelated misconduct, while three others remained on campus under restriction pending the Naval Investigative Service report. One car crash kills Atlantic man in Iowa county
United Press International reports a single car crash in Pottawattamie County killed 22-year-old Roger Toburen of Atlantic, an employee at KJAN. The Iowa traffic toll rose to 237 for 1967 as four others died in separate accidents, including a head-on on Interstate 80 near Davenport.

Viet truce violated as Americans suffer casualties in clashes
Communists killed and wounded more than 100 Americans in Buddha birthday truce violations across South Vietnam. U.S. spokesmen said 10 killed and 77 wounded in the first half of the two day truce, with 13 Americans killed and 14 wounded in additional incidents. American forces reported 68 enemy killed. School bus driver charged after county crash
Scott County Sheriff William Strout said driver William Wacker 19 faces a charge of failure to have his vehicle under control after a bus with thirty high school students aboard veered into a ditch west of here. Eleven students suffered minor injuries and Wacker was treated for shock. Brakes were tested and found working.

Submachine gun wielding bandits hijacked a Brink's armored car in Brockton Massachusetts locking two guards and a bank employee in a bank. The loot totaled 400000 with 230000 from Raynham racetrack receipts and 200000 being transferred to Plymouth Home Bank. An Abington officer encountered the robbers who disarmed him and fled. the men were not masked and one attempted to take the officer as a hostage.
