A mob of masked white men abducted Godwin Buddy Bush, 24, from Northampton County Jail early today after his arrest for allegedly attacking a white woman. Sheriff A W Stephenson led a countywide hunt, but by noon no trace was found. Investigations continued as rumors of a lynching spread.

Three Burned to Death in Shack at Keokuk
A fire on the Mississippi riverfront in Keokuk Iowa killed three occupants a 60 year old man George Lacy his 50 year old wife Rose and a man named John Smith all fishermen. Firemen could not reach the blaze in the three room shack described as edge of river bank among cabins and old houseboats. Fire chief John Breheny called it a flash fire likely started when one fell asleep while smoking in bed.

Two Young Men Die In Iowa City Crash
Dean Hoke 22 and Lloyd Furlner 28, both of Van Horne, died when their car overturned into a creek near Iowa City. Passengers Richard Warner 20 and Donald Bistline 20 were injured, with Warner listed in serious condition. Sheriff Pat Bistline said the driver fell asleep at the wheel before the crash. Committee Makes a 32 Percent Cut
