A Des Moines column notes the deaths of three Iowa children from traffic and vehicle incidents. Five year old Paul Wilberding of Dubuque was struck by a car driven by Gladys Link while running into the street. Cleo Aline Turpin, 19, of Fort Madison was killed when thrown from a motorcycle near Nauvoo Illinois. Roy Peters, 10, near May City, died at home after falling from a stoneboat pulled by a tractor on a gravel road.

Spirit Lake Judge G W Stillman filed findings in the Iowa case State vs L P Babcock and Mrs L P Babcock heard May 2. The court ruled for the state and ordered decree for a permanent injunction stopping Babcock cottages from operating without a state hotel permit. The court defined a hotel as a place offering sleeping accommodations for transient guests for hire with or without meals. Babcocks run a cottage resort on West Okoboji Lake.

Feltz Pleads Guilty to Speeding and Pays Fine
Gerald R. Feltz pleaded guilty to speeding on a public highway, paid a $5 fine and costs, and had his license suspended 60 days. The reckless driving charge was changed from the original filing. A fatal crash near town last Sunday involved Feltz and Dororthy Jean Roth’s vehicle, with Warren Shafer Jr. also charged. Don Long Injured in Tree Fall at Barth Home
Don Long, 19, a Congress Hotel resident, was severely injured while trimming trees at 221 South Avenue C. He suffered a compound fracture of the right wrist, a broken right elbow, and possible basal skull fracture. He was treated at the county hospital and then at the University hospital in Iowa City. Authorities say he fell about 20 or 380 feet. Long has lived in Washington about a year, moving from Oskaloosa.
