Rural Graduation Exercises Planned for May Second

Rural eighth grade commencement set for Tuesday at Washington Methodist Church with Dr. John Leonard Davies of the State University of Iowa as speaker. The program includes musical solos by Keith Horn John E Bell and Richard Shalla plus piano duet Sarahhe Trotman and Frances McConnell, with Alice Hunter directing. Labor Bulletin Indicates Farmhand Shortage in Iowa

Des Moines report notes at least 250 farmhands needed across the state. Last week 263 regular and 149 seasonal workers were placed by 57 offices in Iowa. Waterloo leads in orders with unfilled openings paying 125 to 190 dollars monthly. Marshalltown shows 20 stormhands at 60 to 80 dollars monthly.

Koje Island Prisoners Stage New Riot Against UN Rules

Communist prisoners on Koje Island staged a fresh demonstration against UN authorities at compound 76. A Chinese prisoner was killed at gate 602 after a threatening gesture to a UN guard, Brig. Gen. Trailer House on Farm Destroyed by Flames

Taft Victory in Montana Lengthens Delegates Lead

Washington report says Montana Republican convention elected an unwonstructed eight member delegation with seven Taft supporters and one Eisenhower backer. The tally shows Taft 386 delegates to Eisenhower 360 nationally as Washington GOP prepares to vote. Democrats in Montana chose two delegates.
