Tragic Wagon Accident Injures Toddler Near Coun ty Farm

Saturday afternoon a three year old boy, son of Mr and Mrs Daniel Robrer, near the County Farm, was run over by a heavy wagon while on a hay load. He slipped between boards and the wagon passed over his abdomen. Dr Burroughs attended, and hope for recovery is expressed.

Fire Destroys Chilcote Residence Calmly After Morning Stove Mishap

About eight o'clock the Chilcote home nearly burned as a stove leaked when lit for a bath. Mr Ballard hurled the stove out a window. neighbors fought the blaze with little hose use. Dave Melkee suffered burns to hand neck and body. Ballard singed. Dr Philips burned but none seriously. Loss under fifty dollars.

Runaway Team Causes Park-Edge Accident and Reunion Homecoming

A lucky runaway near the square involved a spring wagon and frightened horses that veered toward the park fence, causing minor damage and bruising. Abe Essley’s son Charley returned from Denver after ten years, visiting with his wife and family at the Essley home south of the city. Burglars Steal Pocket Book From Justice Maxwell Home

Report notes burglars entered Justice Maxwell’s house last night and fled after taking the pocket book with a small amount of cash. The thieves likely anticipated more but were deterred, leaving fruit on the porch. Local residents report a rise in petty theft as burglaries become bolder.

Academy Girls and Turning Pole Jokes Clarified

In Saturday's Journal a contributor reported girls using a turning pole in the Academy gym. The piece explains no turning pole exists and the girls never went below the first floor. The note says the item was intended as a joke and would not have run if proof had been checked.
