Simon Wertz and Howard Yoder spotted a driver slumped at the wheel of a heavy passenger car rolling downhill in Iowa City. They jumped on the moving vehicle and brought it under control before it crashed. The driver, Carlton T. Huiskamp, 60, a Keokuk resident, had just returned from Florida.

Blum Paroled After Guilty Plea in Local Larceny Case
Donald Blum, 20, pled guilty in district court before Judge Frank Bechly to larceny for stealing 73.20 in coins from the Irvin Goodwin home northwest of Wellman. He received up to five years in the Anamosa reform school but the sentence was suspended and he was paroled to Rev. William F. Krueger of Wellman. About 338.80 of the stolen money remained unrecovered. Blum promised to repay the rest. Three other cases remain: Ernest Norton for assault with intent to inflict injury and Howard Dawson for obtaining money by false pretenses.
