Thomas Blanchard, 26, who fled Cook County Hospital after a mental exam, held Pastor Wolfe Knappe briefly before being found drinking at Casa Madrid. He admitted killing Daniel Saenz, 29, and shooting Claire Koehler, 26, and abducting Saenz and Mrs Josephine LoBue, 40. He surrendered to police in Melrose Park.

Crawfordsville man survives crash with gas truck on highway 218
Larry Milliman 20 of Crawfordsville narrowly escaped death when his 1957 car rammed a gasoline transport. He suffered severe cuts but was listed in good condition at Mercy Hospital Iowa City. The crash occurred near the Don Blankenhorn farm three miles north of Crawfordsville. The truck driver was Charles L. Butterfield 25 of Iowa City.

More Combat Troops Leave Hawaii Thursday
