Farm veto sparks Talmadge warning and hearings plan
Senator Herman Talmadge said Ford's veto of a farm support bill could trigger a mood like the 1930s. He will summon Agriculture Secretary Butz to July hearings to monitor farm prices and flag economic storms. The House passed the vetoed measure 245 to 182, short of the two thirds required to override.
