The Washington Elementary Music Department will present a concert on Thursday May 20 at 7 30 p m in the Washington Junior High Gymnasium with the fifth grade band directed by Mr Irvan Rich the sixth grade band directed by Gary McCurdy and the sixth grade chorus directed by Mrs Berdena Bagby. Washington Jaycees join Garden Department for shrub and tree planting at Washington County Hospital Tuesday evening with Garden Department supplying plants and Jaycees providing manpower. Fifteen men and women from patriotic organizations met in City Hall Legion Room to plan Memorial Day activities. A flag raising at the post office, a Navy Memorial at the Crooked Creek Bridge, a parade, and short ceremonies at two cemeteries were scheduled. Kenny Davison named Parade Chairman, Don Hazen in charge of Navy Service, Bob Pearson assistant general chair, and grave decoration led by the D.A.R. Veterans urged to participate as Independence and Veterans Day efforts were noted. Observances set for Monday May 31 since the holiday falls on Sunday.

Washington Junior High to Host Spring Festival Display
Washington Junior High will hold its annual Spring Festival on Tuesday May 18. Eighth and ninth grade students from home economics art and industrial arts will present a theme titled Enter the World of Fashion and Sewing with a 515 style show preceded by a 438 tea. An evening exhibit runs 7 to 9 featuring more than 300 artworks from seventh through vocational students including drawings paintings prints and design projects as well as pottery wire sculpture and future transport models. Demonstrations cover linoleum relief lithography macrame pottery and wood turning with woodworking metal and electrical projects on display supervised by Rafe Gonshorowski.
