Secretary Huxford resigns to lead Waterloo Y work
At a called Y M C A board meeting, Secretary Walter F. Huxford announced his resignation to take a similar community role in Waterloo Iowa. The move, effective early June, comes with a salary increase. The Waterloo field is seen as ideal for community work, and the local board began seeking a replacement while noting his two years in Washington were hampered by epidemics and fuel shortages. Local reports praise his thorough fundamentals and note the organization remains in better shape than in years. He will attend a national boys' work conference in Blue Ridge NC before assuming the Waterloo duties. The annual report shows 280 boys and 300 men attended athletic meets, 46 job placements, 19 campers, 2,000 participants in a spring cleanup, and totals of over 4,300 boys and 1,100 men touched during the year.
