Grim dispatch from Guthrie Oklahoma reports Snyder tornado death toll over eighty five with a dozen missing and forty one seriously wounded seven fatally. Relief from neighboring towns and 100 grave diggers arrived while Governor Ferguson issued a disaster proclamation.
A derailment and dynamite blast on the Pennsylvania Railroad in Harrisburg kills nineteen and injures over a hundred. The accident occurred at the middle of a heavy express train as a box car of dynamite exploded. Officials list the deceased and provide extensive casualty rosters plus named seriously injured from Pittsburgh Philadelphia Cleveland and New York among others.
May 12 report lists seventy three victims recovered after Thursday night cyclone in Snyder Oklahoma. Mrs Mary Gaherty 75 of Chicago and her son Thomas 35 disappeared after receiving a $2400 legacy in Jersey City law offices. Checks dated May 2, letters from friends piled up, and no trace found. Admin believes they may have left for vacation. foul play suspected but not proven.
