The Association for Retarded Children invites interested persons to a public meeting Thursday at 8 p m in the old nurses home at Washington County Hospital. Discussion and remarks by a guest speaker will cover expanding services for the handicapped in the area.
City officials refuse National Guard aid and mobilize about 200 Iowa Highway Patrolmen to the University of Iowa campus before dark. Police dispersed two protests with tear gas and smoke machines, arresting about 40 people as crowds ranged up to 1,500.
Lester Worley oversees a Monday night Indian Guide gathering at Delbert Krotz home as six Scouts perform authentic Indian dances. The program invites participation from Indian Guides and their fathers, with the group engaging in demonstrations and group activities.
The Iowa Senate approved a plan to form a general services department to oversee purchasing printing data processing and building services.
