Mystery California airliner crash linked to former Philippines athlete
Investigators sift clues in the Pacific Air Lines crash that killed 44 aboard near San Francisco. A gun linked to Frank Gonzalez, 27, a former Olympic athlete, was found. Gonzalez died in the crash. Authorities state ownership of the weapon is proven, but he is not accused of firing. He married Helen Griener April 28 1937 near Clear Creek. He farmed near Brighton and belonged to St Josephs Church. Survived by wife two sons Donald and Glen two daughters Mrs Dean Edwards Brighton Elaine one brother Ernest Fairfield one sister Mrs Sylvester Soboski Brighton and two grandchildren.

Traffic deaths reach 227 mark in Iowa list
Four more names joined Iowa's traffic fatality list over the weekend, lifting the 1964 toll to 227 from 173 through May 10 last year.
