John Paul Jones Hero of the American Navy Rediscovered
General Horace Porter, U S ambassador to France, is credited with locating and identifying the remains of John Paul Jones in Paris. The finding followed Porter’s long campaign, archival sleuthing, and a search that traced the admiral to the abandoned St Louis cemetery before bringing his remains to the United States aboard an American warship.
