William Harvey 86, Civil War veteran and G A R member, died by his own hand yesterday evening. His body was found by grandchildren at his daughter Mrs George Speers home. Coroner jury ruled death a self inflicted gunshot amid poor health. He leaves three sons Walter Harvey Washington Wilbur Palisades Colo Elmer South Dakota and daughter Mrs Luin Terey Toledo.

The Y announces pool times for boy members. Ages 9 to 11 swim Monday 4 pm and Saturday 10 am, ages 12 to 14 swim Wednesday 4 pm and Saturday 9 am. Special summer memberships are offered. Today at 11 am, students from the free swimming school could attempt a beginner's swimmer button. This evening at 7 30 there is a free swim for country and neighboring town boys. Eighty eight boys are enrolled in the free swimming school.
Washington Second in Little Six Meet at Burlington
Washington high school placed second to Muscatine in the Little Six track meet under lights at Burlington. McAvoy and Ahrens each scored 11.4 points to share high honors. Stutsman led most of the mile before Fairfield’s Webster won in 4:39.5, a Little Six record. Six records fell including Lange’s shot put and the 220 yard low hurdles by McAvoy. Next week Washington competes in the district meet at Fairfield.
