Funeral set for Elmer Carmichael Saturday in Washington
Elmer Carmichael dies at county hospital after a fall and hip fracture. Funeral services will be held 2 PM Saturday at the Methodist church with Rev. Arthur W. Henke officiating. Burial at Elm Grove cemetery. He lived in the community most of his life, born May 3, 1863, and survived by a sister Miss Mary Carmichael. He had lived with his nephew Scott Jarrard recently.

A large downtown crowd heard the high school band in a formal park concert led by Milburn McKay. About 42 youths performed to enthusiastic applause with autos honking in support as benches filled and others stood nearby.

Texas mob sets court house afire at Sherman
A mob in Sherman Texas tried to seize defendant George Hughes during his trial for three counts of criminal assault. Rangers and sheriff's deputies used tear gas and clubs to disperse the crowd as they battled the blaze. The courthouse burned uncontrolled with workers barred from extinguishing it and Hughes secluded in a vault.
