The Des Moines master builders association withdrew a 121 percent wage increase offer to four building craft unions. Union leaders said they received notice by letter that the offer was withdrawn and that acceptance required all unions to agree. The four unions notified were carpenters iron workers equipment workers and engineers with carriers and common laborers. The 124 percent rise had been accepted by plasterers cement finishers and truck drivers.
