Fire at Holmberg Erickson Market During Norwegian Royal Visit
Decorah fire crews on police duty for Crown Prince Olav and Princess Martha of Norway responded to a blaze at Holmberg Erickson meat market. Fire destroyed over a ton of ham and bacon as firefighters were driven by taxi to the station to answer the call.

Two Pedestrians Hurt In Waterloo Auto Crashes
In Waterloo two pedestrians were critically injured in separate crashes. John Ludy, about 65, of Davidson's Furniture Store, was struck by an auto driven by J. C. Plaza and suffered a possible skull fracture, broken hip and internal injuries. Mrs. George Rhodes, 60, was struck by a car driven by Warner Anderson and suffered a compound fracture of the right leg and possible internal injuries.

Funeral services for Mrs Bert C Babcock today
Funeral services for Mrs Bert C Babcock 61 were held at two o’clock at Sherman's funeral home. Burial in Elm Grove cemetery. Pastor Dr. Arthur Atack of the Methodist church officiated. Pallbearers were Dale and Don Darbyshire Glenn Thompson Doyle Jarrard Cloyce Babcock Jay Brown. She died after a two day illness from a heart attack at her home 414 South Third avenue. Edna Marie Darbyshire born December 1 1877 south of Washington lived in the county all her life. Surviving are her husband Bert C Babcock and two brothers W M Darbyshire of Washington and Dr Charles Darbyshire of Ottumwa. One brother is deceased.

Norton Bound Over In Brighton Assault Case
Ernest Norton of Brighton was bound over to the grand jury on charges of assault with intent to commit great bodily injury after a hearing before Justice R. W. Fillmore. Bond set at $1000, Sheriff H. M. Watnam took him to Washington jail. Complainant Charles Kimber sustained broken ribs and bruises from the early Sunday morning altercation near the Donald Williams home.
