Robert El Hott, 30, a farm worker on the Joan Marbles farm near Wapello, was pinned between an upset tractor and a large plow wheel. He was brought to Burlington hospital with a broken right leg, numerous bruises, and possible internal injuries.
Ralph ad. White president of the Chamber of Commerce and Leo McEleney head of McKeney Auto Co. are hospitalized after a crash on Highway 30 near Wheaton Illinois. They were driving back from Detroit and both blame fatigue for the collision. White suffers a broken nose and bed bruises while McEleney has lost several teeth.
Mason City city council approves a new commercial electric debt rate schedule from Peoples Gas and Electric Co. Officials say the cut will save about 10600 annually. This marks the second rate reduction in nine months for utility customers.
Ames students worry about a rumored Hell Week as pledges roam Downtown Ames and campus at night. Inspections reveal no official program, and police show little interest while college authorities tolerate informal hazing fears.

Washington County drys claim a valid case against a state liquor store seeding in the county and the state liquor control commission reportedly considers the matter. Christian pastor Rev. R W Fillmore cites figures from 1933 and 1934 showing substantial anti liquor sentiment, including 3 383 dry to 2 819 wet in the June 1933 prohibition vote. He notes a petition with 8 307 signatures from county voters, including many from Washington townships, though it was not filed then.
John Applegate was elected master councilor of the south eastern Iowa district of DeMolay at a district conclave in Clinton. Other officers named include Jack Bierman, Dean Floyd, Jack Raymond, Douglas Lassa, Dan Tom Marr, and Dad O Beck. Washington’s Amos chapter won the attendance award with delegates Roy Means and others among the Washington participants.

Mrs. Fred G. Moore, former Washington Telephone Company manager’s wife and former chief operator, dies in Wisconsin after months of illness. She was active in church and social work and belonged to Beacon Iowa’s Presbyterian congregation. funeral held there as family mourns.
Administration leaders reported ready to seek Roosevelt's consent to postpone the supreme court plan vote in the senate until next fall. The delay would clear the way for prompt passage of appropriation bills and other measures and assure a summer congressional recess.

Revised figures show 35 dead as Navy launches a formal investigation led by Capt. Gordon W. Haynes. The hearings run with the Commerce Department inquiry planned to open Monday. Deaths include Eric Knoescher of Asbury Park and crew members Willie Speck and Alfred Bernhardt. Captain Ernst A. Lehmann, famed zeppelin expert, also died.
A Tama resident found a Washington county number plate on their car after a Tama man, A Smith, misplaced his plate near a Tama hotel. The missing Tama plate had vanished, and the reason for swapping plates remains unexplained. The incident raises questions about why a Tama vehicle would receive a Washington county plate.
