Prices seen to rise for farmers in coming months
Washington reports forecast higher farm prices for dairy products and most meats. Milk prices may average about 5 percent above 1967’s $5.02 per hundred pounds, with total milk and cream marketing around $5.8 billion last year and a 4 to 5 percent rise expected in 1968. Fed cattle prices should stay near late April levels, about $2.40 higher than last year, with summer gains. Hog output may decline after 1966-67 rises, with fall prices lower unless early spring farrowing lifts them. Lamb prices remain above 1967 as supplies stay tight, though seasonal declines are expected this spring and summer.
