Can Accept Two More On YMCA Camping Trip
Eight high school boys have registered for the wilderness camping trip to the Canadian border northwest of Duluth Minnesota, with two places still open in the local group. Tom McSpadden of the YMCA says he will lead the ten local boys on the trip from July 1 to 8, at a cost of 37 dollars and 50 cents. Ninth graders or older are eligible and interested youths should contact the YMCA.

Richland Grocery Damaged by Fire
Fire caused by lightning damaged Homer Dressler’s grocery store in Richland Saturday night around 10:30. The Dresslers had just left moments before. Damage was greatest at the rear near a stairway, with smoke damaging stock. Claire Hoekstra suffered minor facial cuts from a breaking door. The Dresslers have run the store since 1940 and plan to remodel and reopen soon in a building owned by Marie Snider.

Cars Collide South of Washington On Sunday
A Missouri man was charged with passing at an intersection after his car collided with Ira Allen Wagner on highway 1 south of Washington Sunday evening. Wagner, 15, of Washington, escaped injury as damages were estimated at 125 dollars for his vehicle and 300 dollars for the other car. The crash occurred about 6 PM one mile south of Washington as Wagner signaled a turn and started to leave the highway while Ralph L. Alexander drove up to pass, causing the collision.

Keota Farm Home Destroyed by Early Morning Fire
Fire destroyed the Keota area farm home of Mrs. Everette Klein five miles west of Keota. Chuck White reported the blaze about 4 a.m. Keota firefighters could not save the house or contents as no one was home.

William Gage Kinross Dies At 92 In Keota Area
William Gage 92 of Kinross died this morning at his son Calvin's home in Kinross where he had lived for eleven years. A retired farmer born near Letts September 22 1869 he married Myrtle Belle McCowen in 1893 in Clarinda who died in 1935. He was baptized Catholic and is survived by Calvin, four grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife seven brothers and three sisters. Funeral plans are with Powell Funeral Home Keota.
