James Lons a 53 year old Iowa City cafe operator was acquitted of the murder of 41 year old Andrew Davelis. The slaying occurred October 12 as Davelis was being taken into protective custody by police. The verdict followed an eight hour jury deliberation.

Friends Plow 40 Acres For Bill Crayne Today
Fifteen neighbors plowed a 40 acre plot on Bill Crayne’s farm two miles southeast of Washington starting at 7 a.m. by 8 30 a.m. the field was finished.
