Grain trust freed for $2.5 million distribution

Five Missouri girls killed in I 35 crash near Lamoni
Five young women from Albany and New Hampton Missouri died in a fiery car truck collision on Interstate 35 near a Lamoni rest area in Iowa. Army Reserve Center to get $1.9 million upgrade
Kraemer Brothers of Plains Wisconsin won the $1.9 million contract to expand the United States Army Reserve Center in Washington Iowa. The project adds an 117 by 107-foot assembly hall and a new maintenance shop, plus remodeling of the existing building, new classrooms, larger parking areas and a hard surface lot for military vehicles. The 872nd Maintenance Co. is recruiting toward full strength as construction is set to begin late this month under Lt. (DL) Capt. Dave Birney.

Seehan found guilty of first degree murder in son's death
In Story County District Court, Thomas Earl Seehan was convicted of first degree murder for the suffocation death of his 2 year old son Thomas Jr. The eight women and four men jury reached the verdict about 10 p.m after eight days of trial. A pre sentencing investigation was ordered and sentencing set for June 14.
