Tornadoes devastate northern Iowa causing widespread damage

United Press International reports a devastating tornado outbreak in Floyd and Mitchell counties northern Iowa. Sheriff Rich ard Jahnes urged sight-seers to stay away as emergency crews work amid collapsed homes, downed power lines, shattered churches, and numerous farm losses. Several residents were injured, including Mr and Mrs Clifford Canny and the Muller family, with extensive damage across multiple farms and communities.

Two U S Marines were killed and another wounded when a jeep entered the rebel held zone on 30th of March Street in Santo Domingo. Supervisors Accept Bids on New Washington County Jail

Washington County Supervisors received bids for the general and plumbing heating contracts for the new jail. General bids came from Earl Wood and Sons of Ainsworth and H Eugene Smith Mr Pleasant. Carson Plumbing and Heating of Washington was the lone bidder on plumbing and heating. The supervisors said bids were under advisement and contracts will be let soon.

Iowa Senate approves Democratic reapportionment plan
