Lawyer Aged 89 Years Before Supreme Court

DES MOINES The Iowa supreme court Friday heard an appeal by W. F. Murphy 89 of Iowa City who may be the oldest attorney ever to appear before the court. Murphy, who as a 17 year old helped quarry stone for the state capitol, urged the court to set aside a Linn county district court ruling.

Snow records show latest May snowfall in Washington history

Washington’s official weather observer found no record of snow in Washington as late as May 6. Ward Injunction Order Extended in Chicago

Federal judge Wm H Holly extended beyond Sunday the preliminary injunction restraining Montgomery Ward & Co officials from interfering with government operations at the Chicago plant. He will decide Wednesday on a further temporary injunction to keep the plant under government control pending a bargaining election overseen by the NLRB. The Ward officials argued the election could be invalid with workers under government control.
