Cedar Falls will observe the 60th anniversary of the founding of Iowa State Teachers College from October 8 to 10. President O R Latham announced seven nationally known educators will survey the college, led by George Frook, president of the American Council on Education. Starting May 18, President Latham said.
Davenport Republicans report total campaign receipts of 2771 with 270 remaining in the city central committee treasury. Chairman Harold F Thuenen contributed 200 to the municipal campaign fund.

The Washington County Board of Supervisors approved creating a county health unit to start July 1, 1938, for 12 months with a maximum local funding of 1500 and an estimated 75 to 100 monthly new money. Federal support of 5700 plus 8800 for prenatal work enables the plan, with a county board of health to be appointed and take office May 15.

California results show Warren leading Landon for the Republican delegates as 9,452 of 11,700 precincts reported. Warren backed by Alameda county was favored over Landon by voters choosing Warren as the uninstructed delegates to the national convention. Roosevelt won easily for the Democrats in California amid factional opposition.
Defiance Herman Bruegge three and a half years old died at the county hospital this morning at nine. Born October 2 1922 at Buffalo Iowa he was son of Herman and Dora Bruegge who live east of Ainsworth. Thomas Douglass a 63 year old lumber salesman of Muscatine died in a Washington hotel at 1 30 am after a heart attack. Funeral services will be held Friday at two o clock at his Muscatine home with burial in Oakdale cemetery Davenport. He traveled for the I D Hunting company Cedar Rapids and was a member of the Methodist church United Commercial Travelers and the Masonic lodge. He is survived by his wife two daughters and a son three brothers and a sister.
The Fort nightly club Music department presents the second National Music Week program at the high school auditorium. The mixed chorus under Miss Helen Coffey opened with two selections, followed by baritone and contralto solos, a woodwind quintette piece, a bass solo, two girls septet numbers, and the high school concert band with Sousa e The Wanderer March closing. Most participants are trained for upcoming music contests and the evening was described as well planned and smoothly executed.
