SCHOOL BOARD ARRESTED IN IOWA CONTEMPT CASE
Farmington Iowa May 6 members of the local school board were arrested for contempt of court and ordered to appear before Judge Frank W Eichelbarger in Fairfield. The dispute centers on a 1904 permanent injunction against paying illegal warrants from a 1900 school building project. The board and treasurer were enjoined from paying the warrants after a 1905 legislature attempt to legalize them. A writ served April 9 set a trial for April 16. On April 15 the board secretly met and issued new warrants with 1 percent interest on old ones, totaling 11044 dollars. The case, not decided on the temporary injunction, was postponed by the board attorney for a vacation brief.
