Washington Lions Club will award one seventh grade? No, sixth grade students from three centers in the Washington Community School District for the most improvement in band work. Gordon Watson is this year’s Lions president. The event marks the second year of the awards.
Lee Gray son of Mr and Mrs Ed Gray was elected student body president at Washington High School for the 1975 76 school year. He headed the Progressive Party and defeated Perry Stannard of Brighton the Different Drummers presidential candidate. Tom Whelan Kathy Bates and Tammy Dalrymple won key Student Council posts.
Senator Culver criticizes NATO members for wasting over 10 billion dollars annually on duplicative defense. He calls for a NATO standardization conference to improve combat readiness and cost effectiveness, citing 23 aircraft families, 7 tank families, 22 anti tank weapons, and 100 ship types. He urges common projects of 4 billion dollars within three years and tighter arms sales guidelines to non NATO nations.

Seven cars of a 125 car Milwaukee Road freight derailed about three miles east of Rubio on a Friday morning when a draw bar dropped. The mid train load included new automobiles and lumber. one auto was crushed. Debris cleared and tracks reopened by Sunday night.
