Remembering Effie Hallie The village Aunt Martha

For the first time in memory the pocket-sized lawn is almost shaggy and bits of windblown trash have settled in the neat trenches that edge the sidewalk. Effie won’t be coming back to make her place as neat as a pin again. She cared for shut ins and sent get well cards and bouquets from her yard. Her diminishing figure moved about delivering token gifts as she kept a frugal, helpful routine. Her Sorghum Cookies recipe is shared here.
