The Washington Community School district outlines 1966 summer offerings with mandatory ten-student enrollments per class and potential additions. Faster pace for industrial growth in Iowa first quarter
DES MOINES UP I) In dustrial developments in Iowa during the first three months of this year exceeded the record pace of the first quarter of 1965, says the Iowa Development Commission. Job opportunities jumped 338 percent to 7,208, capital investments rose to $35,909,000, and the number of developments reached 77, with more branch plants and out of state headquarters than all of last year. Existing industries announcing expansions accounted for 4 071 new jobs.

Youth is killed in Keokuk County
In Keokuk County near Thornburg Iowa 22 a two car crash killed 17 year old Patricia Osweiler Webster rural and injured three others. Patricia died at University Hospitals Town City two and a half hours after the crash. Floyd Striegel What Cheer drove the car and was hospitalized in Sigourney in good condition. Dick Moode What Cheer was treated and released. Fred Mundt Jr. Ottumwa led the other vehicle.

City council approves Class A liquor permit in Washington
The council approved a Class A Liquor Permit for Fraternal Order of Eagles No. 3276 at 1102 E Main, sending the application to the Iowa Liquor Control Commission. City actions include swimming pool upgrades with up to 800 for canopies tables and fencing and two new backstops at 645 each, plus sewer charges of 250 for new hookups. It also authorized street repairs and preliminary engineering surveys for 1966 streets with Huber paid at 8 percent of the street project costs.
