McKinney Sentenced to Life for Killing His Two Daughters
Newton, May 3. George McKinney confessed slayer of his two daughters pled guilty to first degree murder and received life imprisonment in Fort Madison state penitentiary. He withdrew his not guilty plea and was sentenced immediately by Judge J. G. Paterson. The murders of Artie Doraen, 25, and another daughter occurred March 26 at his farm near Newton.

Coast Guard Rescues 28 From Lake Ontario Stranding
Twenty eight people including one woman and a child were rescued after spending nearly 18 hours on tugs and barges on Lake Ontario. A tug Bolinas broke away from two barges during a storm, one barge grounded at Olcott Beach and another struck the breakwall. Coast guard Boat CG-211 towed the Bolinas and the two barges to Port Weller, Ontario. All aboard were soaked but unhurt.

Haskins Woman Hurt in Auto Crash Near Town
