Iowa House OKs measure to overhaul anti trust laws

The Iowa House voted 61 34 to approve a sweeping anti trust bill sending it to the Senate. Supporters say it protects consumers from price fixing while critics warn it could crush franchised operations and empower the attorney general with broad investigative powers. The measure would allow civil actions and permit penalties up to 50000 dollars and a year in jail, with exemptions for cooperatives bottlers unions and certain regulated industries.
