Ford urges quick Vietnam evacuation funding after aid bill failure
President Ford urged Congress to draft new legislation to fund Vietnam evacuation and refugee resettlement after the House killed a 327 million humanitarian aid bill 246 to 162. He said more than 84 thousand South Vietnamese are to be resettled in the United States, with possibly 10 to 20 thousand more. The administration seeks at least 400 million dollars for initial evacuation and care.

Car stolen from Crane Co. lot and burned later west of Washington
A car owned by Robert Merrill of Wellman was stolen from a Crane Co. parking area early today and recovered burned on a dirt road west of Washington. The theft occurred between 12:30 and 7:30 am and the vehicle was completely destroyed by the fire. Police and sheriff's officers are investigating the case.
