Algiers Attacks Trigger Deadly Riots At Dockyard
A booby trapped car exploded among Muslim dock workers in Algiers injuring dozens and provoking Islamic riots. Police report at least eight dead and around a hundred injured, with higher tolls feared. A bystander counted 30 dead and 70 injured. Eleven injuries included six children, ages nine to fourteen. Chaos followed as rioters attacked a European and French security forces moved in. The incident linked to the outlawed OAS and comes after earlier violence in Bone and other Algiers districts.

Third Atomic Device Tested
The United States detonated its third and largest nuclear shot in the Pacific series near Christmas Island at about 1 p.m. CDT. The low megaton device was delivered by aircraft, releasing at least one million tons of TNT, potentially several million. The two prior shots in the series occurred last Wednesday and Friday. Farmer electrocuted near home at Zwingle Iowa
Donald D. Lambe 23 years old was found dead beside a Rural Electrification Administration transformer near his farm home north of Zwingle Iowa by neighbor Raphael Dunecalf. Authorities believe he climbed over a steel fence and touched either a 75 000 volt line or a 3 500 volt step down line at the REA facility. No motive or reason for entering the facility is given.
