French Plane Missing Near Sahara Desert
A French government transport plane carrying 13 passengers including the high commissioner in the Camerouns disappeared near the southern edge of the Sahara. National Music Week Activities Announced
National Music Week runs May 7 to 13 in Washington with municipal and high school concerts. Wendell Rider offers a vocal solo at the high school with John Yousling as guest organist. Two Injured in Car and Truck Crash on Highway 22
Two people suffered minor injuries in a Monday morning crash on Highway 22 one mile west of Kalona. Duane Yoder of Wellman drove a car that collided with a Kalona truck driven by Henry J. Yoder. The truck stopped after entering from a side road and could not clear the car. Mrs. Viola Yoder had back injuries while Duane Yoder sustained a lacerated nose. Both were taken to Kalona for treatment.

Junk dealer struck by freight engine in city
Joe B. Sloan a 74 year old junk dealer was reported in fair condition after being hit by a freight engine yesterday afternoon. Sloan was struck as his mule pulled a cart onto Rock Island railroad tracks. The train moved slowly and Sloan suffered serious injuries. A veterinarian treated the mule at the scene.
