Glenn withdraws from Ohio Senate race after fall

Astronaut John H. Glenn Jr. withdraws from the May 5 Democratic primary in Ohio after a head injury from a bathroom fall. At 42, Glenn resterbed in Lackland Air Force Base hospital, saying doctors advise months of inactivity and no political campaigning. His wife Annie stood by as he announced the decision and his possible future plans remain open.

Iowa primary battles heat up in June 1 ballot

Iowa primaries promise crowded races for both parties in six districts. Mrs. Mary A. Greiner, 81, died Sunday March 29 1964 at Washington County Hospital. She lived at 621 West Second Street and had been ill a week. Peter W. Richard dies near Wayland

Peter W. Richard, 78, died suddenly at 9:45 p.m. Sunday near Wayland. Funeral arrangements are set for Sugar Creek Mennonite Church with Rev. Vernon Gerig and Rev. Robert Hartzler. He was born near Noble on October 16, 1885, married Emma R. Graber in 1915. Survivors include two sons Glen and Oscar D., a daughter Josephine Schrock, seven grandchildren, and two sisters Fannie Graber and Ida Richard.
