Verdict for defendant in Jordan versus Schantz case
A district court jury returned a verdict for the defendant at 7 40 p m yesterday in the four day Jordan versus Schantz collision case in which the plaintiff sought 16000 and the counter claim was dismissed. Foreman L W Soule led the jury which ruled against both parties. The collision occurred last November at Columbus Junction involving a Jordan car and a Schantz truck driven by his wife. The docket shows upcoming cases Dale Minick versus Sechantz and the state against Floyd Dayton, which may not be tried this term. If not, jurors will be dismissed for the term after a Monday return.

Fourteen Washington County Men Enter CCC Camp
Fourteen young men aged 18 to 26 from Washington County are to join the Civilian Conservation Corps at Solon camp near Iowa City. Applicants, unemployed and with dependents, sign up at the courthouse and report January next Monday at eight. Enlistment replaces workers whose terms end after a year. They receive $30 monthly, much sent home, with food shelter clothing and equipment provided.
